Quantity Surveyor, Falkirk

Role summary

To manage the delivery of designated contract objectives within a wider commercial setting.  The role will include delivery of set commercial objectives in relation to profitability, cash collection and providing commercial advice to operational counterparts.  The role will require clear, precise and accurate reporting of project performance to the Commercial Leader and operational staff.  Must be able to travel, with occassional over night stays, as projects may be UK wide.  Must be able to travel to head office in Runcorn on a regular basis.

Summary of key accountabilities

  • Monthly commercial and financial reporting in accordance with company requirements and procedures
  • Working closely with project delivery teams to provide clear commercial information and advice
  • Advising on opportunities to enhance value through contacts
  • Providing commercial input to support bid teams secure new contracts
  • Maximise opportunities of supply chain procurement
  • Change management (client and supply chain)
  • Risk and opportunity management
  • Applications for payment and invoicing
  • Client liaison and negotiation
  • Final account preparation

Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

  • Margin expectations delivered
  • Accuracy of forecasting (margin and cash) and ability to explain variances
  • Invoicing and cash collection in accordance with contract requirements
  • Adherence to company financial and commercial reporting procedures

Skills & Experience

  • Ability to operate in a busy team
  • Possesses an appropriate degree level (or equivalent) qualification and have sound commercial and business knowledge
  • Knowledge of NEC and FIDIC suite of contracts or similar
  • Ability to understand and respond to contract issues
  • Ability to anticipate problems and ensure appropriate escalation is undertaken
  • Ability to negotiate with clients and suppliers
  • Must possess excellent communication, report writing, presentation and IT skills
