Mechanical Technician, Newton Aycliffe

We are looking for a Mechanical Technician to join our Mechanical Maintenance Team to provide routine maintenance, repair, testing, modification and installation of all mechanical equipment on a COMAH plant based in Newton Aycliffe.

Candidates should be a minimum of time served via a validated mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent (NVQ 3/4) and ideally they should have experience of performing mechanical maintenance duties in the Chemical or Petrochemical Industries. A current fork lift truck license is desirable.

This role holder is responsible for maintaining the continued high-level availability of the plant and equipment required to satisfy the process and production needs. This is by providing first line mechanical support performing a wide range of maintenance activities. This includes providing routine preventative maintenance.

The role holder must also be able to quickly assess problems, diagnose causes of malfunction, and effect repairs and the return to service of a wide range of items of mechanical equipment including for example heavy industrial pumps, compressors, gear boxes, fans, valves, gearboxes, agitators and basic pipe work systems.

The role also requires the ability to perform workshop repairs and overhauls of items detailed above and the role also requires an ability to make mechanical plant modifications, so must be familiar with change management processes, be able to read drawings and provide relevant documentation.

While predominately based in the manufacturing area, support to service areas is also required.

Safe working is of paramount importance, all procedures must be adhered to. Including completing activity records of asset conditions and maintenance activities performed.
